Does anyone even remember me?

Tue Mar 10, 2009, 7:27 PM
I just wanted to leave a quick update for the couple people who have wondered where I have been. It's been a lousy 8 months or so. My mom lost her job and I spent the majority of my days entertaining her.

The end of the year I got, what we thought was the flu, but it wouldn't go away. Then I did a short stint in the outpatient hospital, during which I became pretty ill. Finally, in February, after two consecutive nights in the ER, they figured out I had mononucleosis (and no, I hadn't been kissing anyone). Started feeling better from that, but some reoccurring back pain came back full force and the doctor sent me for some x-rays. Come to find out, I have scoliosis, aggravated by arthritis.

So that's the crap.

The better news is, I've been designing again and opened another shop on Zazzle. The Jumble Factory in case anyone is interested. I wish I could say I was taking pictures again, but I dropped and broke my camera. :(

More pita news: my mac has been acting funny, so it's going back into the shop. I swear, I got a lemon.

I'll be 40 in just over a month and if this is any indication of how the year is going to play out, I think I'll just skip the birthday and wait until 41.

Hope everyone is doing well! All my best ~*~ Ren

R E D! (Features)

~*~Nowhere to go but crazier.~*~

I wanted to do some journal features that focused on color. So many have been focusing on black and white and desaturation and sepia that I didn't want to cover the same material. So I'm going to pick one color each time and then present some photos that make good use of that color. What a concept, huh? I'm starting with R E D! I'm a fiery redhead, so why not! I hope my couple of watchers and a few passer-bys will like the features.

Haven't Had Much To Say Lately

And I still don't. I've been busy with other sites, trying to sell stuff. Thinking that I'm not ready to go back to school, but I really should or I may never go back. This must be my pre-midlife crisis setting in.

I had to describe myself in one word earlier ~ for someone's poll. I said...irresistible. I should have said...indecisive. Or...joke.

I shouldn't do journal entries at 1:30 A.M. when I'm grouchy. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow I will do some features. Maybe it will be next week. We'll see. Irresistible my ass. I should have said...liar.

Check out the footer...the second link has some awesome new SHOES!!!!!

At the Movies!

Mon Jul 14, 2008, 7:07 PM
~*~Nowhere to go but crazier.~*~

So I took my son to see Kung Fu Panda today ~ finally. It was cute. We have the book from Kohl's so we knew the story going into it. Still, part way through he wanted to leave. This is why I never take him to the theater to see a movie. He's such a wuss. This time he said it was too sad. I am a mean mom and made him stay and watch the entire thing. I simply reminded him it was a movie and we knew how it ended ~ happily. So then I wrapped my arms around him and told him to close his eyes if he didn't want to watch and he snuggled against me and watched. It turned into a great mom/son moment. Then at the end, when the dragon warrior defeats the bad guy, we clapped and all was okay again! After that we ran to the bathroom because he had to pee. He's worse than me.

Still, he's my boy. He will even hold my hand in public at nine years old and I love that. I take full advantage, too, because soon he will want nothing to do with his old mom I'm sure. They grow up so fast. Half way to eighteen already. I'm not sure where the years went. It seems like only yesterday that I was bringing him home from the hospital, giving him a bottle and rocking him to sleep. But then again, I've been careful to spend a lot of time playing with him and enjoying our mom/son time. We've had many special moments together over the years and for that I'm grateful. I'm a very lucky woman and mom to have such a great kid ~ even if he is a wuss at the movies! :D

I hope y'all spent the day with someone you love.

So I Made a Poll

Sat Jun 28, 2008, 8:04 PM
~*~Nowhere to go but crazier.~*~

I created a poll for my journal. It's something I've been thinking about lately...call it morbid curiosity. I'm sure someone else has already done this one, but I really am interested as to what people's thoughts are on death. Do you think about it? Does is fascinate you? Does it scare you? Will you go gently or will you fight it? Does it matter? It's the one thing none of us can outrun, but so many try to, yet some can't seem to wait to die.

I've been in both extremes it seems. These days, apparently, I've made some peace with death. As I grow older it bothers me less and less, to the point of not being an issue except where it comes to my young son. I fear his untimely demise, and I fear what my untimely demise would or could do to his budding life should such a thing happen. As for any other fears or romantic idealizations regarding death though, I have none. I have no belief in heaven or hell or some glorious afterlife, so, for me, this is it. No qualms about what will happen when I die because I think nothing will happen except that my body will decay and I shall fade into memories and one day those, too, will be gone. I'm not destined for greatness, to be remembered by masses for eons to come, and that's perfectly fine with me. To touch a few lives is all I need. To make a difference in one is enough. I am content.

So, please go answer my poll. :D
